Dalhousie got its name from Lord Dalhousie, the British Governor-General of India, who chanced upon this charming spot every summer. His admiration of this place led him to establish one of the prime hill resorts of India in 1854.
Since then Dalhousie continues to safely guard its natural environment which till date is one of its best charms and beauty. Built upon five hills, Balun, Kathlug, Patreyn, Tehra and Bakrota, the hill station is covered with a thick growth of Ban, Oak, Confers, Pine, Firs and a large variety of trees and shrubs nestle this hill station.
Romantic charm and majestic presence of the Himalayas have always drawn people of diverse nature, taste, culture and interest for a rich and rewarding experience. Dalhousie’s landscape complete with snowy peaks, thickly wooded mountains, exotic and wide spectrum of flora and fauna, glittering lively streams and azure sky offers wending vistas of vision to its visitors. |
